The Christmas market – why should you go?

The last weeks before Christmas are a time of joyful expectation. We prepare our hearts and homes for Christmas. It is a time of intensive home decorating and planning the Christmas Eve menu. Children write letters to Father Christmas, while adults do their best to make children's Christmas dreams come true. If you want to get away from all the household chores, make sure to visit the Christmas market. You can feel the spirit of Christmas most intensely in this wonderful, colourful place.

Excellent festive fun in the Christmas spirit

During the Christmas market, the city's main streets become a truly magical place. Carousels, steered by courageous elves, appear in the Christmas town. There will be plenty of Christmas games for the youngest children to stimulate their imagination and make them feel joyful. Face painting, Christmas competitions and trinket stands are just a few of the many surprises awaiting you and your family at the Christmas market. All of these attractions are accompanied by atmospheric music, which will awaken warm feelings in even the most hardened hearts.

Gingerbread tastes better at the Christmas market.

The Christmas market is, of course, crowded with colourful stalls with plenty of wonderful Christmas sweets. Local producers offer their unique products which tempt the customers with their attractive manufacturing. The smell of gingerbread drifts through the air, providing a sweet incentive to give yourself and your loved ones some appetising gifts.

At the market stalls you can also taste dry Christmas specialities. Aromatic red borscht and mouth-watering bigos will arguably put our taste buds in a festive mood. Having said that, there will be something for fast food and grilled food lovers as well.

Obviously, pre-Christmas outdoor celebrations simply cannot do without traditional Galician mulled wine. Mulled wine on a cold December day will wonderfully warm up our bodies and put us in a joyful and cheerful mood.

The Christmas market - a treasure trove of Christmas decorations

As befits a traditional Christmas market, a large part of the stalls are featuring various Christmas decorations. You simply can't resist the delightful hand-painted baubles made of delicate glass, while handicraft enthusiasts will be amazed and delighted by all the crocheted, knitted wool bells and angels.

Traditionalists will also have the opportunity to indulge in a stroll among the stalls, as there will be plenty of ornaments reminiscent of Christmas decorations from years gone by. Among the trinkets, you can find a nutcracker, cute animals and a wooden clown. They recall the memories of toys hung on Christmas trees in bygone days.

A feast of colours and lights to be enjoyed by both young and old

The Christmas market is probably the only time of the year when we can admire such beautifully planned and manufactured light decorations. Thousands of multi-coloured lights decorate the stalls, streets and shop windows. Atmospheric wooden houses, in which sellers' stalls are located, attract customers with their varied and colourful stock.

It's definitely worth finding time in the pre-Christmas period to visit this unique place. You will return home from the market with beautiful souvenirs and unique, hand-made gifts for family and friends. But the most valuable thing you will take home with you will be the wonderful atmosphere and magic of Christmas, which will stay with you for a long, long time.
